Careers & Request for Proposals

MPP’s strength lies in its people, who share MPP’s vision in ensuring equitable access to affordable and quality treatments for everyone, everywhere.

Working at the Medicines Patent Pool

At the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP), we are a dedicated team driven by our mission to increase access to, and facilitate the development of, life-saving medicines to those who need them. We are passionate, driven by our values of respect, courage, generosity and commitment.

MPP is a United Nations-backed foundation that offers attractive working conditions with offices in Geneva, Switzerland and Mumbai, India. In the 2021 Internal Climate Survey, 96% of MPP’s employees had indicated that they are happy and proud to work for the organisation and a 100% feels motivated to contribute to MPP’s success.

Annual leave

Every employee is eligible to receive 30 days of paid annual leave per calendar year (for a full time-based contract). Depending on their duty station, employees also receive local and national official holidays offered by Geneva canton or Mumbai.

Parental leave

Employees are granted 16 weeks of paid absence for maternity leave. The same measures are applicable in the case of an adoption of a child. MPP also grants a four-week leave for the second parent.

Healthcare coverage

MPP contributes to the cost of its employees’ healthcare coverage insurance and offers a monthly fixed amount to each staff.

Training & Development

MPP encourages all its employees to follow continuous education and long-life learning through financial and time support for personal and specialised training. As the fields in which MPP’s staff is working are constantly evolving, whether they are medical or scientific, legal or regulatory topics, MPP is proud to support employees’ self-development.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

The EAP service is a confidential external service available to all MPP staff and their family. The service offers a professional confidential support, whether it concerns emotional or legal assistance. Ensuring staff well-being is key, particularly in these difficult times.

International relocation

New employees joining MPP for a minimum period of 12 months are entitled to a relocation package.

Flexible working time arrangements

MPP offers flexible working arrangements including working from home and partial working-time, in accordance with local conditions and regulations.

Respectful workplace:  Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

MPP seeks talents from a variety of areas of expertise and recognises that a diverse workforce and an inclusive cultural environment are critical to the success of its mission. MPP’s richness lies in its staff: a dynamic and multicultural team.

MPP is committed to creating a work environment that values human dignity and equality; we strive to drive performance by empowering our diverse workforce to use their unique skills, ideas, perspectives, and qualities every day; and we support staff in realising their full potential.

Our Governance Board, Expert Advisory Group (EAG) and staff members reflect gender equality, and geographic diversity where inclusion is encouraged.

Gender

MPP is deeply committed to ensuring that all members of the organisation can access and enjoy the same rewards, resources and opportunities, regardless of gender.

MPP acknowledges that supporting gender equity and equality is of paramount importance to ensure a technically strong MPP.

This is why we strive to guarantee gender diversity by ensuring gender balance, at all level of the organisation:  Board, Expert Advisory Group and staff positions. With gender balance, we mean ensuring that 50% of the positions are covered by women.

MPP efforts in this area have been recognised by Global Health 50/50 through their 2022 assessment of publicly available gender-related policies, practices, and outcomes in 200 leading organisations active in global health. This places our organisation in the top 10% of the sample. In assessing the scores of MPP from 2020-2022, we have also been found to be a “consistently high scorer”.

“MPP team is united and caring and efforts are constantly made to provide perfect working conditions and create a balanced environment for every team member to thrive.”

Lobna Gaayeb – Long-Acting Technologies Project Manager

“I am very proud of being part of MPP, which I consider both a privilege and an enormous responsibility. I am glad that, through my own skills set and experience, I can complement the work of talented colleagues, and help strengthen the MPP work and impact. Having a role within an organisation making such a tangible and direct contribution to expanding equitable access to quality, affordable life-saving medicines for populations across the world is truly a huge professional and personal motivation.”

Sébastien Morin – Policy and Advocacy Manager
